As the neo-cons and teabaggers would have us believe, the U.S. economy is in a free fall and America's moral compass is pointing south.
Yet, despite all their dire predictions, their doom and gloom scenarios and their racist rants the TeaBagger/GOP standard bearer romney, is only now just barely matching Pres Obama popular vote for vote in most of the polls. Yet romney is still destined to lose the Electoral College and thus the election.
If what they say is true he should have been a shoo-in by now. Much like Pres Obama was in 2008.
You'd think that with all that they claim has been "inflicted" on America these past 4 years and blaming it ENTIRELY on Pres Obama & the Democrats' they'd be far ahead and sweeping both popular AND electoral votes. That it would be a no-brainer for the electorate to sweep Pres Obama and the Democrats out of office. But it isn't happening.
Alas, it just goes to show how inferior their candidate(s) actually are and how far to the extreme right the GOP has strayed these past 5 years. It also highlights just how bankrupt their Retro-Bush era and moralistic policies are viewed as a whole. It also shows that at its core America is still a rather moderate country, politically & socially.
As Pres Obama wins a 2nd term there will be a LOT of blood letting, finger pointing and recriminations in the Conservative ranks. It will be interesting to see where things end up on the Right and who's left standing in the resulting circular firing squad.
Will they do a 'course correction' and move back to a centrist-right party or continue on their lock-stepping march to the extreme right. Trouble is there aren't too many remaining in the Center Right to pick up the baton and continue the race after the Great Purge by the TeaBaggers.
Could it be an opening for Jed Bush in 2016 maybe? Maybe a 3rd Center Right party as a repudiation of the TeaBagger take over of the GOP? Or will there be just to much collateral damage on the Right.
Time will tell. Can't wait.
